Part of my global vision
The world becomes more human when we meet it.
Travel has convinced me that understanding grows when we encounter people, cultures and places for ourselves. A map can tell us where a country is. A headline can tell us what happened there. But walking its streets, hearing its voices, sharing its food and seeing ordinary life can change the way we understand the people who live there.
My hope is that these pages do more than show where I have been. I hope they encourage someone else to choose a place, learn about it, and go.
A little orientation
One country, many distinct places
Italy stretches from the Alps through the Mediterranean and is made up of regions with strong individual identities. Art and history are everywhere, but so are differences in landscape, food, language, architecture and pace of life.
A trip becomes richer when it is not treated as a race between monuments. Italy invites travelers to slow down: a neighborhood walk, a train ride, a market, a small church, a meal and a conversation can matter as much as the famous masterpiece.
My connection
Humanism made visible
Italy brings together things I care about deeply: art, human creativity, history, food and the idea that beauty can be part of ordinary life rather than something separated from it.
As I build out this page, my photographs and memories will help tell the story of the Italy I encountered—and hopefully encourage someone else to create a journey of their own.
Plan your own journey
Start with official sources
I want these pages to inspire travel, but also to make the first step easier. These official and public resources are good places to begin. Entry rules, transportation, local conditions and other requirements can change, so check current information close to the time you travel.
My photographs
The journey in pictures
The slideshow will let the personal journey take over where the orientation ends—places, people and details that meant something to me in the moment.

My Italy Photographs
I am still organizing my Italy photographs. As I add them, this gallery will become a visual part of the story, with captions and navigation.
From travel to connection
This place is part of a larger world.
One reason I share my travels is to encourage conversation between people in different places. The Global Pledge grew from that same belief: that we share one planet, and each of us can help make it a better, healthier and safer world for all.

Travel can turn distant places into real people, real communities and shared concerns. If that idea speaks to you, I invite you to discover the Global Pledge.

Do you live here—or have you visited?
If Italy is part of your story, I would love to hear what the place means to you, what I should understand better, or what you would encourage another traveler to experience.

Don't only read about the world.
Pick a place that has always made you curious. Learn a little about its history and people. Make the trip when you can. Be respectful, ask questions, listen, notice ordinary life—and bring home more than photographs.
